How to survive the holidays this Christmas season without getting fat.

Let’s face it, we all want to be able to eat and not get fat, but this simply isn’t the reality. This can be the hardest during the holiday season, but it can be done! It all depends on your goal and what price are you willing to pay for it. Let me explain what I mean.

If you want to look exactly the same as did before the holidays, you need to do one thing and if you are okay with putting couple on a couple of pounds, you’d have to act differently. Most people in my opinion get it totally wrong. They try to go through the holiday season by going to parties and restricting themselves to some point. At the end of the day, they are unhappy because they could not fully enjoy and they are also unhappy cause they gained extra weight!

I, myself, do it differently. I am constantly watching my nutrition throughout the year. When it comes time for the holidays, I usually tighten it up two – three weeks prior to the holidays and lose a few extra pounds.

This allows me to have NO RESTRICTIONS during the holidays! I can indulge and spend time with my friends and family they way it should be!

I know I will put on weight, but it’s not a problem at all because I also know that as soon as the holidays are over, I will be back to my normal nutrition and training and that extra weight will be gone within two to four weeks.

This strategy helps me stay in shape for most of the year except for a few weeks during the holidays. but most importantly, I enjoy my holidays!

However, if you want to look exactly how you looked before holidays started on January 1st, you’ll have to bite reality. If you keep doing what you are doing, you’ll keep getting what you are getting.

That means you’ll need to be doing the same level of training all throughout the holidays including same nutrition you’ve had for the past three months! (not the same if you’ve gained weight in those three months…obviously…).

The last option is for those who want to have cake and eat it too. However, this one is not free as well. If you want to go through this month and stay almost in the same shape, while still being able to enjoy your holidays, here are couple of tips for you.

  • Train at least three times per week.
  • Avoid mixing alcohol with carbs and sugars. If you do drink alcohol, stay with clear hard alcohol, such as vodka. Not because I am Russian, but because it is easier on your liver. You can dilute it with water or sparkling water. If you drink it straight, like I do, have at least one glass of water every one-two shots.
  • Choose parties where you can be strict and some to relax.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Holidays, I want you to enjoy this time with your closest family and friends!!!
